Beautycounter: My Favorite Makeup Products!

If you’re reading this or if you follow me over on IG, you’ve probably connected the dots that I’m a huge clean beauty fan and advocate for choosing safer, non-toxic products when possible. Cue one of my favorite brands: Beautycounter. About 1.5 years ago, I decided to become a Beautycounter consultant as their mission impressed me as did their formulations that are non-toxic and actually EFFECTIVE. In my experience, there are a lot of non-toxic/clean brands that simply don’t perform well. Below is a list of my favorite makeup favorites that I reach for time and again. Foundation/concealer
Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation: Skin Twin is skincare meets makeup. This foundation is made with hyaluronic acid to visibly plump your skin. It’s available in 18 different shade ranges, so there’s a perfect color match for everyone. It doesn’t settle into fine lines and it makes your skin look ahhhhhmazing!
Why I love it: This foundation is full coverage without feeling like you’re wearing makeup. It isn’t cakey or greasy and it will moisturize your skin. A little goes a loooong way, so it will last you forever—saving you some moola. It’s buildable, so if you want a little more coverage you can add another layer—again—without it feeling heavy! Another bonus? I often use my fingers to rub it in, so you really don’t even need a makeup brush. But if you do, I use this one.
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer: This is a necessary product for “no makeup makeup” days. I love dew skin for evening out my skin tone and for the added sunscreen benefit (SPF 20). I love using this as a stand alone moisturizer or will layer it under my foundation for a little glow. For the makeup minimalist, this is a great product to have in your makeup bag. I put this on with my fingertips.
Why I love it: Perfect to have year round for when you want even skin and SPF but don’t want to commit to an entire face of makeup.
Skin Twin Creamy Concealer: I love love love a good concealer and have tried many. This newly repackaged and reformulated concealer is a winner, my friends. I especially love to use this under my eyes to brighten them up.
Why I love it: This concealer is not greasy and the coverage is amazing. It’s also available in a wide range of colors. Sometimes, it’s hard for me to find a shade light enough for my pale skin, but their Fair 2 shade is ideal for us fair-skinned folk. I use my fingers to apply and tap in. SO EASY TO USE.
BLUSH
Color Pinch Cream Blusher: I will admit, I’m a blush girl. I LOVE trying new blush products, colors, etc. This blusher stick in the color Hibiscus is far and away my favorite blush from BC. It doubles as a lipstick too and is such a pretty, universally flattering color.
Why I love it: Simply swipe it on each cheek, pat in with your fingertips and voila, that’s it! It’s so simple to use and just SO flattering. It’s the perfect product to pop in your purse to use as a 2-in-1 blush and lipstick. I’ve seen makeup artists use it as eyeshadow too—but I’m not that adventurous…but don’t let me stop you from trying it! If you don’t like pinky toned blush, it also comes in Caramel and Umber.
Illuminating Cream Highlighter: While this product is technically an illuminating stick, the rose glow color is the perfect blush. I alternate between using this product and the color pinch cream blusher. The difference is that this has a little shine to it that the more matte blusher doesn’t have, so it’s really a personal preference. I also use this on my lips as a lipstick! If you want a true highlighter, the pearl glow is your best bet.
BRONZER
Radiant All Over Bronzer: This is your basic, gets-the-job-done bronzer (in the best way possible). I love it because it isn’t obnoxiously shimmery but isn’t totally matte either—it strikes the perfect balance. I wear the lightest shade (Dune) and I love how it gives my pale face a little glow without having to sit in the sun.
Why I love it: You can’t screw up putting this on. The formula is so easy to swipe on your face with a bronzer brush and it truly brings my face to life! I like to dust this on my forehead, nose and cheeks—where the sun would naturally hit.
Bonus: Need a great bronzer brush that’s affordable? Check this one out! I’ve had mine for 2+ years and it’s still kicking.
MASCARA
Think Big All-in-One Mascara: Previously, BC’s mascara would probably not be on my makeup fav list. However, last week, BC’s new and VERY MUCH improved mascara launched and I’m obsessed. This blows the old formula out of the water. It really gives your eyes a pop! While I use many different brands of mascara, I know I’ll be reaching for this one quite often now.
Why I love it: This formula helps your lashes look full and long. This mascara is also SUPER BLACK which I think is so flattering. It’s also been meticulously formulated over the past few years and is one of the cleanest on the market. Many clean mascaras flake and notoriously just don’t hold up. This one does. I also think it’s interesting to note that this is formulated without the use of carbon black, which BC prohibits due to being a potential carcinogen and organ system toxin. Definitely worth a try.
EYE SHADOW
Lid Glow Cream Shadow: I wouldn’t consider myself an eyeshadow connoisseur but BC’s latest launch of the lid glow cream shadows has made me a convert! These creamy shadows are so user friendly. They’re easy for an eye shadow novice like myself to use—you simply swipe on a layer and tap it in. These formulas are sheer and add a very subtle wash of color—however, they’re buildable if you want a more pigmented look. I opted for the 3 lightest shades with my favorite being the rose gold color: luster. There are 10 colors to experiment with so there really is something for everyone’s skin tone and preference.
Why I love it: Fool proof way to add a little something extra to your eyes while keeping it quick and simple! Also, these formulas won’t crease or look super worn by the end of the day.
LIPS
Beyond Gloss: I love BC’s lip gloss as it smells like literal heaven. It isn’t sticky and has just the right touch of color payoff.
Why I love it: I love that this lip gloss gives you just the right color and that it helps to moisturize your lips at the same time. I also love that it comes in a ton of colors with Magnolia Shimmer being a current favorite!
Sheer Genius Conditioning Lipstick: I love lipstick. I always have and always will. While I’m a matte lipstick girl at heart, I love these hydrating lipsticks for days I need a little more moisture. My favorite color is their cool berry color: Orchid.
Why I love it: These are the perfect color payoff while conditioning your lips! They offer so many colors that you can really build a nice lipstick collection to suit your mood. If you aren’t into super pigmented lipstick, I’ve heard the Pearl shade is shimmery and clear—in fact, it’s currently in my cart to purchase.
