Why Clover? The Inspiration Behind the Name
When I studied abroad in Prague, I couldn’t wait to book a trip to Ireland.
I was slightly homesick at the time but when I arrived at Dublin International, I was greeted by quite possibly the most cheerful customs agent I've ever met (who knew there was such a thing?!). I immediately felt at home.
My roommate and I traveled west to Connemara, and then on to charming Galway. From there we took a day trip to Inishmore—one of the Aran Islands—where I bought my beloved hand knit Irish cardigan, made by the hands of a skillful 80-year-old Gaelic speaking woman. Whenever I wear my cardigan, I'm transported back to that magical day wandering around Inishmore.
The scenery was next level. Sheep wandered everywhere. We even met some newlyweds and shared a pint of cider with them at what seemed to be the only bar on the island. Major hygge vibes!
When we arrived back in Dublin, we were serenaded by fiddles and that warm Irish accent singing “Galway Girl” at Temple Bar on Halloween. Magic!
Ok, so where am I going other than down this cherished memory lane?
Well, you can see how much I LOVE Ireland. I love how the country made me feel at home and like my best self—the people, the sights, the sounds, everything felt truly joyful. I experienced a true sense of wellbeing.
Flash-forward to when I was deciding on the name for my much-dreamed-about business. I kept seeing the word clover at every turn.
On my “clover” honey varietal, on my parking structure DOOR. Literally everywhere.
I finally took this rather obvious sign from the universe and decided that this name was meant to be—a nod to my family ties to Ireland and a nod to the feeling of wellbeing, joy, and vibrancy I wish for each of you to feel.
My services are rooted in helping you experience this joy on a regular basis, no travel needed. Although, it helps.
It’s also very appropriate to have a plant as the very center of a brand rooted in plant-based eating.
With that said, take this as your sign that you should go make yourself a nice green smoothie and dream of the trips you will take when this pandemic ends. Until then, here are a few vintage pictures from my first trip to Ireland.
Cheers!
